A Belfair woman died after being struck by a pickup truck on State Route 3 in Silevrdale Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the truck was traveling on the onramp from Newberry Hill Road to northbound SR-3 while two SUVs were stopped on the ramp’s gore point with the Belfair woman standing next to the passenger’s side of one of the stationary SUVs. About 12 PM, the truck crossed into the gore point and struck the woman and the SUV. The truck and the woman came to rest blocking the on ramp.
The woman, identified as Hayley McMaster, 21 of Belfair, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 64-year-old Sammamish man; a passenger in one SUV (presumably the one McMaster was driving), a 40-year-old Port Orchard woman; and the driver of the second SUV, a 72-year-old Poulsbo woman, were not injured.
Charges against the Sammamish man are pending the outcome of the investigation into the crash. No alcohol or drugs were reported involved.
