Updated results from the August 5th Primary Election show no significant changes with all measures passing and incumbents advancing to the General Election.
As of Friday, August 8th, the City of Shelton’s sales tax measures to renew the City’s Transportation Improvement District now has 72.86% approval. That’s 953 voting “Yes” and 355 voting “No”.
In the race for City of Shelton Council Member No. 3, incumbent Sharon Schirman still leads with 496 votes (38.54%), followed by Kenneth G. Mobley who now has 415 votes (32.25%). Douglas Peterson remains third now with 195 votes (15.15%) and Carl Rhodes now has 163 votes (12.67%). The top two vote getters advance to the November General Election and those two are Schirman and Mobley.
The other candidate primary race is for Mary M. Knight School Board Director Position No. 1. Incumbent Kayla Mali is still the leader now with 193 votes (54.99%) followed by Tracey Ushman who now has 125 votes (35.61%). The third candidate in the race is Tessa Fatland who now has 26 votes (7.41%). There are also seven write-in votes (1.99%). Mali will face Ushman in the General Election.
There were three fire district measures on the Primary Ballot.
There remains overwhelming support for the merger of Mason County Fire District No. 17 into Mason County Fire District No. 18. The measure now has 91.8% approval. That’s 224 voting “Yes” and 20 voting “No”.
Mason County Fire District No. 12’s property tax levy lid lift now has a 55.5% approval. That’s 212 Matlock area voters in favor of the measure and 170 voting against.
Mason County Fire District No. 16’s property tax levy now has 56.88% approval. That’s 438 West Mason Fire voters in favor of the measure and 332 against.
More ballots from Tuesday’s election will be counted on August 18th with the election certified on August 19th. The results are not expected to change as there is only a handful of ballots on hand to be counted.
