Nighttime travelers who use US 101 south of Kamilche will see temporary changes to the roadway the week of Sept. 8.
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will replace asphalt on sections of northbound US 101 between Hurley Waldrip Road and Old Olympic Highway.
What to expect
From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, Monday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 12:
- Both directions of US 101 will reduce to one lane.
- Left turn restrictions at Hurley Waldrip Road and Old Olympic Highway.
- Reduced speed limits through the work zone.
Some of the work requires a temporary closure of northbound US 101. During the closure, southbound US 101 will be reconfigured to accommodate two-way travel. This work is expected to occur after Labor Day weekend.
Travelers are encouraged to check the project webpage for schedule updates.
Whenever near work zones please:
- Slow down – drive the posted speeds for worker and traveler safety.
- Be kind – workers are out there helping to keep people safe and improve the roadways.
- Pay attention – both to workers directing travelers and surrounding traffic.
Stay calm – expect delays, leave early or take alternate routes if possible; no meeting or appointment is worth risking someone’s life.
