Travelers who use State Route 302, west of the Mason/Pierce County line will soon start using a new bridge over Victor Creek.
What’s happening
Starting as early as 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, travelers will see changes to the roadway approaching the Victor Creek work zone near East Highlander Drive.
Construction crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will move concrete barriers and construction barrels to open a single lane of the new bridge over Victor Creek to traffic.
The temporary traffic signal and speed reduction of 25 mph will remain in place through late fall. This will allow crews to work on paving, guardrail installation and landscaping.
Additionally, crews will finish stream restoration work and remove the undersized culverts blocking fish migration under the highway.

This project is expected to be finished in late fall 2025.
