An Enumclaw man was seriously injured after the truck he was driving struck a tree on State Route 3 Saturday afternoon northeast of Shelton.

The Washington State Patrol reports that the truck was southbound on SR-3 about 3:45 PM. At milepost 5, about halfway between Bayshore and the Shelton City Limits, the driver lost control of the truck which exited the highway to the right shoulder, continued southbound and crossed the roadway where it struck a tree. The truck came to rest on the northbound shoulder.

The driver, a 23-year-old Enumclaw man, was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A press memo indicates that drugs or alcohol were involved and the driver faces a DUI charge.
