The City of Shelton will soon restore Cota Street (between 1st and 6th Streets) to its original street layout, reversing the traffic calming measures implemented during the summer of 2024.

Traffic calming measures aim to enhance neighborhood safety and livability. However, residents and business owners provided feedback that these measures did not meet the community’s needs. After reviewing this input, the Shelton City Council decided at a study session last month to restore Cota Street to its original layout.

The City’s contractor will begin work on this project on Monday, October 6, and will generally work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The project should take approximately 4 days to complete, weather permitting.

To successfully complete the restriping, Cota Street will be on a rolling closure. Crews will work one block at a time to keep the majority of the road open. Drivers should expect delays while crews are working.
