Loss for SHS Football; Win for NM Football

The Highclimbers fell behind the Plainsmen 14 to 0 before getting on the board as time was running down in the first half. Jay-Jay Rhoades scored on a 12-yard run with 25 seconds left. Rhoades added a second TD on the ‘Climbers’ first drive of the third quarter on a three-yard run and the game was tied at 14.
Evergreen took the lead back with a long TD pass.
Shelton pulled to within one after Alberto Manzo took it into the end zone from two yards out.

Unfortunately, the extra point was blocked making the score 21 to 20.
The Plainsmen turn to the ground game to go up 27 to 20 and the Highclimbers were unable to complete the comeback.
Evergreen’s Malukai Turner-Hodges finished with 217 yards on the ground.
Shelton’s Jay-Jay Rhoades ended up with 206 yards rushing.
The Plainsmen improved to 3-and-3 on the season, 1-and-1 in the 3A Greater St. Helen’s League.
The Highclimbers drop to 1-and-5 overall, 0-and-2 in GSHL play.

The North Mason football team knocked off Cedar Park Christian Friday 42 to 14. Caden Atencio got the Bulldogs on the board first with a 13-yard TD run. Reid Shumaker had a 38-yard pick six to make if 14 to 0 in the first quarter. Danner Jones scored NM’s third TD on a 1-yard run to start the second quarter.
The Eagles manage to find the end zone midway through the second.
North Mason responded with Atencio scoring his second TD on a three-yard carry and the Bulldogs led 28 to 7 at the half.
The third quarter saw NM continue to dominate and Brayden Bourboulis had a six-yard touchdown run increasing his team’s lead to 35 to 7.
North Mason got its final TD at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Atencio found the end zone from seven yards out. The Bulldogs return to Olympic League play next Thursday against Bremerton at Phil Pugh Stadium.
