Wins for NM Football & Volleyball; Loss for MMK Volleyball
The North Mason football team wrapped up the regular season Thursday with a 37 to 23 win at Sequim.
The Bulldogs took advantage of a fumbled kickoff to open the game and Danner Jones threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Derek Dunham on the first play from scrimmage to give NM a 7-0 lead seconds into the game. Two possessions later, the boys from Belfair went 50 yards on seven plays with Caden Atencio scoring from five yards out to make it 14-0.
The Wolves got on the board late in the first quarter with a 35-yard field goal.
Early in the second quarter, North Mason went 45 yards on three plays with Jones finding Remi McFarlane in the back of the end zone for a seven-yard TD reception, giving the Bulldogs a 20 to 3 lead.
After the NM defense forced a three-and-out, McFarlane returned a Sequim punt 55 yards for a touchdown and the boys from Belfair were up 27 to 3.
North Mason added a 25-yard field goal by Xavier Powell as time expired in the first half. The Bulldogs were up 30 to 3 at the half.
Sequim scored its first touchdown of the game late in the third quarter on a 61-yard pass, making the score 30 to 9. The Wolves cut into NM’s lead some more early in the fourth quarter on a four play 64-yard drive, and the score was 30 to 16.
North Mason scored their last touchdown of the game one a four-play 81-yard drive that was capped by a 52-yard Atencio TD run. The Bulldogs led 37 to 16.
Sequim added one more touchdown but ran out of time,
North Mason improved to 7-and-2 on the season, 4-and-2 in the Olympic League, sitting in third place in the standings with the top four teams advancing to the post season. The Bulldogs’ opponent next week has not yet been determined.
The North Mason volleyball team wrapped up the season with a 3 to 2 win over Port Angeles Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs finish the season with a 4-and-13 overall record, 3-and-11 in the Olympic League.
The Mary M. Knight volleyball team lost a tiebreaker with Ocosta Thursday 3 to 2. The Wildcats took fourth in the Coastal League and knocked the Owls out of the 2025 District 4 Class 1B Volleyball Tournament. MMK finishes the season with an 8-and-9 record.
The Shelton “C” football team was shutout at Kelso Thursday 35 to 0. The young Highclimbers finish the season 1-and-5.
