Wins for SHS Softball & Baseball, NM Soccer; Rainouts for MMK Baseball & SHS Tennis
The Shelton fastpitch softball team picked up a 9 to 3 win over River Ridge on Friday. The Highclimbers were held to three hits but took advantage of two errors and eight walks by the Hawks. Batting in runs for the Lady-‘Climbers were Makayla Lee and Lexi Rowland. At the plate, Lexi Rowland had a triple. Cassandra Tyler hit a double. The third hit came from A Fauula. Hailey Schuffenhauer walked four times and scored two runs.
In the pitching circle for Shelton: Lexi Rowland went three innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with four strike outs and three walks. Ada Gouley also pitched three innings and gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk. And Jonni Gouley pitched the seventh and struck out one.
The Highclimbers are now 2-and-1 on the season. Shelton opens Evergreen Conference play Wednesday against Centralia on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton baseball team scored one run in the first inning, five runs in the second and two in the fifth on their way to a season-opening 8 to 3 win over Elma on Friday. Daniel Crossan and Silas Hoff batted in two runs each. Carl Turnbow and Zane Harding had an RBI each. Hoff and Jacob Jacoby each hit doubles.
Crossan pitched three innings, allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Michael Carlson pitched two innings with two strikeouts and two walks. Mason Elher pitched an inning and was charged with two runs (one earned) with two walks and a strikeout. And Gunnar Jensen pitched an inning allowed one hit, one walk and one strikeout.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team slipped by Sequim on Friday 2 to 1. Diego Ramos scored the Bulldogs’ first goal on a penalty kick in the 19th minute. Ramos scored his second goal on a corner kick in the 43rd minute. NM is now 1-1-and-1 on the season, 1-and-1 in the Olympic League. North Mason travels to Bremerton on Tuesday.
The Mary M. Knight at North Beach baseball game on Friday was canceled due to field conditions.
The Hoquiam at Shelton girls’ tennis match was canceled Friday.
