Win for NM Baseball; Losses for SHS Softball & MMK Baseball

The North Mason baseball team held Olympic to two hits and the Bulldogs shutout the Trojans 5 to 0 Wednesday. Danner Jones pitched the two-hitter, going six innings, walking three and striking out seven for NM. Caden Atencio was 2 for 4 at the plate and batted in three runs for North Mason. Dylan Prideaux and Calvin Rice batted in a run each. The Bulldogs are now 8-and-11 on the season, 5-and-9 in the Olympic League. NM wraps up the regular season Thursday with a non-league game against Klahowya.


The Shelton fastpitch softball team wasn’t able to catch Aberdeen Wednesday falling 8 to 5.

The Bobcats were up 5 to 0 when the Highclimbers got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning: Hailey Schuffenhauer led off the inning with a double. Riley Rowland hit a triple that scored Schuffenhauer. Lexi Rowland then doubled in Riley. And then Kaylee Rix reached on a error with two out which allow Gabby Murphey to score.

Aberdeen responded in the top of the seventh with a two-run home run by Ally Adams and a bases-loaded single by Madisyn Baker putting the Bobcats back up by five runs: 8 to 3.

The ‘Climbers rallied in the bottom of the seventh: Abby Fauula led off the inning with a single. Liv Rasmussen walked. Schuffenhauer doubled and Fauula scored. Jonni Gouley then grounded out which allowed Rasmussen to score. Unfortunately, the rally ended.
Hailey Schuffenhauer was 3 for 4 at the plate with two doubles and an RBI.
Abby Fauula was 3 for 4.
Jonni Gouley was 2 for 4 and batted in a run.
Riley Rowland had a triple and an RBI.
Lexi Rowland had a double and an RBI.
Shelton now has a 10-and-9 overall record, 6-and-8 in the Evergreen Conference. The Highclimbers wrap up the regular season Friday at Tumwater. The ‘Climbers are postseason bound and will be playing next Wednesday in a District 4 Play-In game.


The Mary M. Knight baseball team lost at Lake Quinault Wednesday 19 to 1 in five innings. The Owls take their 0-11-and-1 record to Wishkah Valley on Friday to wrap up the season.
