The last day to sign up to run for an elected office this year is Friday. Declarations of Candidacy need to be in by 5 PM May 8th.

It has been a busy four days of candidate filings so far this week with seven filing for Mason County Commissioner District 3, four filing for Mason County Auditor, three for 35th Legislative District State Representative Pos. 1, and four filing for the 6th District Congressional race.

The seven who have filed for Mason County Commissioner District 3 – the seat currently held by Sharon Trask who is not seeking re-election:
Miguel Gutierrez (Labor Democrat)
Daniel Cameron (Republican)
Karen (Schade) Sullivan (Republican)
George Blush (Republican)
Lovejoy Schaefer (Independent)
Eric Onisko (GOP)
Rick Lee (Republican)

The four running for Mason County Auditor:
Incumbent Steve Duenkel (Republican)
Tamra “Tam” Ingwaldson (Democrat)
Monika Balmer (Republican)
Vivian Glass (States No Party Preference)

There are now two running for Mason County Treasurer:
Incumbent Democrat Brittany A. Pearson and Republican Randy Lewis.

Two filed for Mason PUD 3 Commissioner District 2 – the non-partisan seat currently held by Tom Farmer: Randy Neatherlin and Mick Sprouffske.

Republican Tammy Clark and incumbent Republican Charles G. Rhodes filed for Mason County Clerk.

Independent Patti McLean filed to remain Mason County Assessor.

Democrat Jaime Taylor filed to retain her seat as Mason County Coroner.

Republican Michael Dorcy filed for his seat as Mason County Prosecutor.

Ryan Spurling (running as a Republican) filed to remain Mason County Sheriff.

George Alan Steele filed to retain his seat as Mason County District Court Judge.

Ronald S. Gold filed to remain Mason County PUD No. 1 Commissioner District 3.

In the 35th Legislative District State Representative Pos. 1 race, incumbent Republican Dan Griffey has drawn two Democratic challengers: Jim Pierson and Shaena Garberich.

Incumbent Republican Drew MacEwen and Democrat Carolina Mejia filed for State Senator.

Incumbent Republican Travis Couture and Democrat Maria Littlesun filed for 35th Legislative District State Representative Pos. 2.

And for Congressional District 6 U.S. Representative, incumbent Democrat Emily Randall is being challenged by Leon Lawson from Aberdeen (with “Trump Republican” as his party preference), Republican Teresa Fox from Bremerton, and Independent Brian P. O’Gorman (who lists a Shelton address).

Again, the deadline to file is 5 PM Friday, May 8, 2026.
