District Win for SHS Softball; District Loss for SHS Baseball; SHS District Track & Field Results
The Shelton fastpitch softball team held Mountain View to three hits and the Highclimbers beat the Thunder 7 to 1 in the play-in game of the 2026 District 4 Class 3A Fastpitch Softball Tournament on Wednesday.
The ‘Climbers got another outstanding pitching performance from Jonni Gouley who went seven inning allowing one earned run in the bottom of the seventh on three hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts.
Shelton had eight hits:
Abby Fauula was 1 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.
Hailey Schuffenhauer was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple.
Riley Rowland was 2 for 2 with two doubles and an RBI
Lexi Rowland was 1 for 4 with an RBI.
Gabby Murphy batted in a run.
Emi McFarland was 1 for 4 with an RBI.
Makayla Lee was 1 for 1 with two RBI.
The Highclimbers improve to 11-and-10 on the season and advance to the District 4 Semifinals against Prairie on Friday at Heritage High School. The Falcons took the Greater St. Helens League number one seed after beating Kelso 7 to 4 in a tiebreaker on Wednesday.
First pitch for Friday’s game between Shelton and Prairie is 3:30 PM and the game will be on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC. The winner of that game will take on the winner between Heritage and Kelso at 6:30 PM on Friday. Click here for the Tournament’s bracket.
The Shelton baseball team‘s season came to an end in the semifinals of the 2026 District 4 Class 3A Baseball Tournament on Wednesday falling to Mountain View 11 to 2. The Thunder scored six runs in the fifth inning to pull away from the Highclimbers.
The ‘Climbers had five hits. Cam Winans and Jacob Jacoby each hit a double with the other hits coming from Ryan Brady, Drew Helser, and Easton Wagner. Gunnar Jenson had an RBI.
Mountain View roughed up Shelton’s four pitchers who combined for 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
The Highclimbers finish with an 13-and-10 overall record.
The Shelton track and field teams competed in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League District Championships Wednesday. After the first day, both teams are sixth in team scoring.
Top ‘Climber Finishers:
Claire Warnock was 2nd in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.69a.
Trayson Bartholomew finished 3rd in the boys’ 1600 meters with a personal best time of 4:33.32a.
Bennett Henry placed 4th in the boys’ javelin.
Jadyn Smith was 5th in the girls’ 100-meters with a personal best time of 13.2a.
Madison Lohmeyer placed 5th in the girls’ 1600 meters.
Ryann Simmons Jr. took 7th in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 18.19a.
Mahala Leclair-Hernandez finished 8th in the girls’ shot put.
Competition continues on Thursday at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver.
