District Softball Wins & Losses for SHS & NM Softball; MMK District Track & Field Results
The Shelton fastpitch softball team played two games in the 2026 District 4 Class 3A Fastpitch Softball Tournament Friday, winning one and losing one in Vancouver.
The Highclimbers’ first game (semifinal) was against number one seeded Prairie, which Shelton won 8 to 6.

Emi McFarland hit a three-run home run with two out in the top of the fourth to break a 5-5 tie. McFarland was 3 for 3 at the plate. Makayla Lee batted in three runs as well for the ‘Climbers against the Falcons.
Shelton advanced to the District Championship game against Kelso, which the Lassies won 10 to 4.

Kelso took control of the game in the bottom of the sixth by scoring six runs, breaking up a 4-4 tie.
Cassandra Tyler led the Highclimbers’ offense against the Lassies, going 2 for 4 and batting in three runs. Lexi Rowland had an RBI. And Makayla Lee was 2 for 3.

The North Mason fastpitch softball team played two games in the 2026 District 3 Class 2A Fastpitch Softball Tournament on Friday at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey, winning one and losing one.
The Bulldogs pounded Eatonville 17 to 0 in the first round. NM’s Kaylani Ivie was 4 for 4 at the plate with a home run and two RBI. Taylor Madison was three for three with three doubles and four RBI. Fiona Youngberg batted in three runs. Sydnnie Imlay hit a homer and had two RBI. And Elizabeth Henningsen was 3 for 3 with an RBI. Addyson Roy got the win in the pitching circle, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out seven. Roy was also 2 for 4 at the plater with a double and an RBI.
In the second round, North Mason lost to Fife 5 to 4. The Bulldogs had a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when the Trojans scored five runs. Fife then shutdown NM in the top of the seventh.
North Mason out hit the Trojans in the game 9 to 6. Finona Youngberg was 2 for 3 with and RBI. Kennady Carson was 2 for 3 with a double. Elizabeth Henningsen hit a triple and batted in a run. Taylor Madison, Sydnnie Imlay, Kaylani Ivie, and Zoey Holdorf each had a hit in the loss.
The Bulldogs face Bremerton Saturday in a loser-out game at 2 PM at the RAC in Lacey.
The Mary M. Knight track and field teams competed in the District 4 Class 1B Championships Saturday at Naselle High School. In team scoring, the Lady Owls finished 4th while the MMK boys tied with Taholah for 6th place.
Top Finishers from Matlock:
Bella Buck won the girls’ javelin with a personal best throw of 117′ 7.5″, and was 3rd in the discus with a personal best distance of 79′ 1″.
Lexi Stamper won the girls’ shot put and was 4th in the discus.
Logan Green won the boys high jump, took 6th in the long jump, and 7th in the javelin.
Andiana Ziegler took 2nd the in the girls’ 400 meters and was 3rd in the 800 meters.
Ryder Lake finished 3rd in the boys 400 meters, 3rd in the 800 meters, 8th in the 100 meters with a personal best time of 12.63a, and was 8th in the 200 meters.
Gabe Buck placed 3rd in the boys’ 110-meters hurdles, 4th in the long jump, and 5th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Zoie Anderson placed 4th in the girls’ high jump.
Natalie Hammel-North finished 4th in the girls’ javelin and 7th in the shot put.
Gabe Walters took 5th in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, and 6th in the discus with a personal best distance of 110′ 11″.
Chase Tupper was 8th in the shot put.
Mary M. Knight has six athletes heading to the Class 1B State Track and Field Championships: Bella Buck in the javelin; Lexi Stamper in the shot put; Logan Green in the high jump; Andiana Ziegler in the 400 meters; Ryder Lake in the 400 meters and the 800 meters; and Gabe Buck in the 110-meter hurdles.
