High School Sport Report 5/21/26

SHS Softball Falls in State

The Shelton fastpitch softball team‘s season came to an end Thursday in the 2026 Class 3A State Fastpitch Softball Tournament as the Highclimbers fell to Kennewick 7 to 1.

The Lions scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to advance to the second round of State. Kennewick got two RBI from Alayna Goodnight and Bella Serrano. Rylee Bendewald and Kadence Sparhawk batted in a run each for the Lions who face Peninsula Friday in the second round.

The Highclimbers’ run came on a solo home run by Hailey Schuffenhauer to lead off the sixth inning. Schuffenhauer finished 2 for 2 at the plate with the homer, RBI, run scored and a walk. Abby Fauula was 2 for 4 with a double. Lexi Rowland was 1 for 1 with two walks. And Makayla Lee was 1 for 3.

Shelton finished the season with a 13-and-12 record, 2nd in the District 4 Tournament, and 4th in the Evergreen Conference.
