Mason County PUD No. 1, the Skokomish Tribe, and the Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties are among the 40 organizations to be awarded funding to bring clean energy rebates to Mason County residents.

The Washington State Department of Commerce recently awarded $39,323,876 million through the State Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) Program to the 40 third-party administrators who will offer rebates to low- and moderate-income households, small businesses, and adult family homes to install high-efficiency electric equipment. This includes funding from the 2025 biennial budget and 2026 supplemental budget.

The State Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) Program received 54 applications requesting over $131 million. Awards went to organizations in 35 counties. PUD 1 and the Tribe were first-time applicants for the Program.

Awardees have to spend their funding by June 30, 2027. Administrators must spend at least 40% of the funds in communities with the highest environmental health burdens. This includes census tracts with Environmental Health Disparities Scores of 8, 9, or 10 and communities designated as overburdened.
