Mason Health names Lacy Eveland, Medical Surgical Pediatrics Nurse, as June 2026 Employee of the Month.
Mason Health is proud to honor Lacy Eveland, Registered Nurse on the Medical Surgical Pediatrics (MSP) floor, as Mason Health’s Employee of the Month for June. She was recognized for the calm, capable, and compassionate presence she demonstrates with every patient during every shift.
Lacy was born and raised in Lacey, WA, where she attended River Ridge High School. She instantly fell in love with the profession as a child when a close family friend took her to work so she could learn about nursing firsthand. She attended nursing school at South Puget Sound Community College and was hired by Mason Health as a new graduate. She has worked in MSP ever since, providing care, education, and support to her patients.
“I enjoy being able to help patients and their families navigate the difficult time during their illness and provide support, education, and encouragement any way I can,” said Eveland. “My favorite thing about working at Mason Health is the teamwork – we are a family. I am so lucky to work with my friends, who are highly skilled at what they do and make me proud to be a part of this team every day.”
“Lacy is such a great team player. I am always amazed at the levelheadedness she brings to each shift. Her positive attitude to keep the rest of the staff motivated is second to none,” said Sharon Reclusado, MSP nurse. “She is a kind and compassionate nurse whose patients always have a good word to say about her. Without her leadership on the busiest and most hectic of days, this floor would not run as smoothly. She is vital to this unit being a well-oiled machine.”
“In nursing leadership, we often refer to having a ‘Lacy’ – a phrase that has become synonymous with safe patient care, efficient admissions, and unwavering support for the entire hospital. When Lacy is on the unit, everyone knows the day will run smoothly, patients will be well cared for, and staff will feel supported,” said one of Lacy’s former colleagues.
MSP nurses are a crucial part of hospital operations, balancing care for a wide variety of patient needs. It is a specialty profession that requires high-level care of children and adults with acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and those who are preparing for or recovering from surgeries and other medical procedures. Some conditions include respiratory illnesses, wound infections, abdominal surgeries, and joint replacements. Lacy stated that, while she loves caring for all her patients, ortho surgical care is her favorite.
When asked what patient experience means to her, she said: “Patient experience isn’t just how satisfied a person is with the care – it’s the quality of the education they receive, the level of empathy, compassion, and patience they experience in their time of need and vulnerability. I try to care for every patient the way I would hope someone else would care for my loved ones.”
When she isn’t handling a diverse patient care portfolio, Lacy loves hiking, gardening, paddleboarding, and generally being out on the water. She also loves hanging out with her family and pets.
Congratulations, Lacy, and thank you for all you do for the Mason Health community!
