Each year on July 2, National Wildland Firefighter Day recognizes the dedication, sacrifice, and service of wildland firefighters and fire support personnel who work tirelessly to protect lives, property, and natural resources. Established in 2022, the day falls during the annual Week of Remembrance, a time when wildland firefighters reflect on lessons learned from fatality fires and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. As wildfire season intensifies across the nation, National Wildland Firefighter Day serves as an important reminder of the courage, commitment, and professionalism of the men and women who stand on the front lines of some of our most challenging emergencies.
