People who travel State Route 3 between Belfair and Bremerton will want to plan extra time the week of July 20.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will reduce the highway to one lane. Flaggers will alternate travelers one direction at a time near Sunnyslope Road.
People are encouraged to check the WSDOT app and statewide travel map before heading out the door and add more travel time to help prevent delays.
What’s happening
The lane closure allows crews to apply permanent lane markings, add curbs and signs and landscape around the new fish passage culvert. Crews need daylight to do the work located near a steep hillside.
Over the next several weeks, travelers can expect occasional nighttime single-lane alternating traffic as crews wrap up final road work. People can view more information and work hours on the project webpage.
Crews will return in fall to add native plants around the stream and complete this portion of the project.
This work is part of a fish barrier removal project in Gorst and Port Orchard.
