Election officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office counted a couple thousand ballots from Tuesday’s Primary Election. The only notable change in latest results have a switch in the leader for Mason County Clerk while there was little change in the races from Tuesday night’s initial results.
In the County Clerk race, Republican incumbent Charles Rhodes has overtaken Republican challenger Tammy Clark. Rhodes has a 103-vote lead on Clark. Rhodes now has 4,399 votes (49.39%) to Clark’s 4,296 votes (48.24%) with 211 write-ins (2.37%).
In the seven-candidate race for Mason County Commissioner District No. 3 (the seat currently held by Sharon Trask who is not seeking re-election), Democrat Miguel Gutierrez is still the top vote getter now with 39.21% (1,018 votes). Republican George Blush follows now with 15.6% (405 votes) which increases his lead (from 8 to 31 votes) on third-place Republican Daniel Cameron who now has 14.41% (374 votes). Republican Eric Onisko is only three-votes behind Cameron with 14.29% (371 votes). The numbers for the others in the race: Karen (Schade) Sullivan now has 7.7% (200 votes); Lovejoy Schaefer now has 4.74% (123 votes); and Rick Lee rounds out the field now with 3.89% (101 votes).
In the race for Mason County Auditor, Democrat Tamra “Tam” Ingwaldson still sits at the top now with 41.93% (4,553 votes), followed by Republican incumbent Steve Duenkel who now has 36.94% (4,011 votes). Republican Monika Balmer is third now with 14.36% (1,559 votes). And Vivian Glass (who states no party preference) received 6.71% (729 votes).
For Mason County Treasurer, incumbent Democrat Brittany Pearson now has 54.2% (5,831 votes) to Republican challenger Randy Lewis’ 45.67% (4,914 votes) with 14 write-ins (0.13%).
Mason County Coroner, Prosecutor and Sheriff are running unopposed. Their numbers remain well over 95%.
The latest results show fire levies still receiving overwhelming support.
Central Mason Fire & EMS’ levy is passing now with 64.28% approval. That’s 2,635 voting “Yes” and 1,464 voting “No”.
Mason County Fire District No. 12’s levy is passing now with 70.51% approval. That’s 153 voting “Yes” and 64 voting “No”. Those are the Mason County numbers. When you add in the Grays Harbor County numbers (6 yes; 15 no), the approval rate is 66.8%.
North Mason Regional Fire Authority’s levy is passing now with 72.5% approval. 1,511 yes votes to 573 no votes. Those are Mason County numbers. When you add in Kitsap County numbers (56 yes; 28 no), the approval rate is 72.38%.
For 35th Legislative District State Senator, incumbent Republican Drew MacEwen still leads Democratic challenger Carolina Mejia now 50.35% to 49.51%. That’s 13,039 voting for MacEwen and 12,821 voting for Mejia with 35 write-ins (0.14%).
In the three-candidate race for 35th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 1, incumbent Republican Dan Griffey still leads now with 52.59% (15,398 votes), followed by Democrat Jim Pierson’s 28.84% (8,446 votes), and Democrat Shaena Garberich who now has 18.51% (5,419 votes). There are 18 write-ins (0.06%).
Incumbent Republican Travis Couture leads Democrat Maria Littlesun now 52.88% to 47.04% for 35th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 2. That’s 15,479 voting for Couture and 13,770 voting for Littlesun with 24 write-ins (0.08%).
In the 6th Congressional District U.S. Representative race, incumbent Democrat Emily Randall still tops the race now with 61.03% (105,695 votes). Republican Teresa Fox remains second now with 24.29% (42,062 votes). Leon Lawson is still third now with 8.96% (15,514 votes). Brian P. O’Gorman now has 3.1% (5,362 votes). Macy Jones has now garnered 2.57% (4,444 votes). And there are now 103 write-ins accounting for 0.06%.
The top two candidates in the Supreme Court Justices races remain the same:
Colleen Melody and Scott Edwards for Positions 1.
David Stevens and Jaime Michelle Hawk for Position 3.
Theo Angelis and Dave Larson for Position 5.
Debra Stephens and Todd Bloom for Position 7.
Election officials will continue to count additional ballots in the coming days. The election will be certified on August 18th.
The next expected update from Mason County Elections is 5 PM Friday, August 7, 2026. So far, Mason County Elections Officials have counted 11,019 ballots. There are 48,581 registered voters in Mason County. Turnout at this time is 23%. No word on how many ballots are on hand.
