Friday, Election officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office counted over 2,000 (2,085) ballots from Tuesday’s Primary Election. The only notable change was in the race for Mason County Commission District No. 3.
The top two candidates for the seat currently held by Sharon Trask remain Democrat Miguel Gutierrez and Republican George Blush with 38.55% (1,291 votes) voting for Gutierrez and 16.69% (559 votes) voting for Blush. The notable change is for third place where Eric Onisko has overtaken Daniel Cameron and leads by four votes (477 to 473 or 14.24% to 14.12%). However, those numbers are two and half percent behind Blush. The numbers for the others in the race: Karen (Schade) Sullivan now has 7.32% (245 votes); Lovejoy Schaefer now has 4.45% (149 votes); and Rick Lee rounds out the field now with 4.51% (151 votes).
In the race for Mason County Auditor, Democrat Tamra “Tam” Ingwaldson still leads now with 41.58% (5,369 votes). Republican incumbent Steve Duenkel remains second now with 36.96% (4,772 votes). Republican Monika Balmer is third now with 14.57% (1,881 votes). And Vivian Glass (who states no party preference) now has 6.85% (884 votes).
In the race for Mason County Clerk, Republican incumbent Charles Rhodes now leads Republican challenger Tammy Clark by 60 votes (down for 103). Rhodes now has 5,217 votes (49.12%) to Clark’s 5,157 votes (48.55%) with 247 write-ins (2.33%).
Incumbent Democrat Brittany Pearson maintains here lead on Republican challenger Randy Lewis for Mason County Treasurer. Pearson now has 54.13% (6,929 votes) and Lewis has 45.76% (5,858 votes) with 14 write-ins (0.11%).
Mason County Assessor, Coroner, Prosecutor and Sheriff are running unopposed. Their numbers remain well over 95%.
Voters continue to support fire levies.
Central Mason Fire & EMS’ levy is passing now with 64.35% approval. That’s 3,334 voting “Yes” and 1,847 voting “No”.
Mason County Fire District No. 12’s levy is passing now with 72.08% approval in Mason County. That’s 173 voting “Yes” and 67 voting “No”. When you add in the Grays Harbor County numbers (9 yes; 17 no), the approval rate is 68.42%.
North Mason Regional Fire Authority’s levy is passing now with 72.43% approval in Mason County. That’s 1,545 “Yes” votes to 588 “No”votes. When you add in Kitsap County numbers (63 yes; 29 no), the approval rate is 72.27%.
No change in the 35th Legislative District races.
For State Senator, incumbent Republican Drew MacEwen still leads now iwth 50.47% (18,825 votes) while Democratic challenger Carolina Mejia now has 49.41% (18,429 votes) with 44 write-ins (0.12%).
In the three-candidate race for 35th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 1, incumbent Republican Dan Griffey still leads now with 52.73% (19,585 votes), followed by Democrat Jim Pierson’s 28.83% (10,709 votes), and Democrat Shaena Garberich who now has 18.38% (6,828 votes). There are 21 write-ins (0.06%).
Incumbent Republican Travis Couture leads Democrat Maria Littlesun now 52.9% to 47% for 35th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 2. That’s 19,652 voting for Couture and 17,461 voting for Littlesun with 36 write-ins (0.1%).
No change for the 6th Congressional District U.S. Representative race, incumbent Democrat Emily Randall still tops the race now with 60.77% (116,632 votes). Republican Teresa Fox remains second now with 24.37% (46,766 votes). Leon Lawson is still third now with 9.05% (17,365 votes). Brian P. O’Gorman now has 3.14% (6,020 votes). Macy Jones has now garnered 2.62% (5,021 votes). And there are now 104 write-ins accounting for 0.05%.
The top two candidates in the Supreme Court Justices races remain the same:
Colleen Melody and Scott Edwards for Positions 1.
David Stevens and Jaime Michelle Hawk for Position 3.
Theo Angelis and Dave Larson for Position 5.
Debra Stephens and Todd Bloom for Position 7.
Election officials will continue to count additional ballots in the coming days.
The next expected update from Mason County Elections is 5 PM Monday, August 10, 2026. So far, Mason County Elections Officials have counted 13,104 ballots. There are 48,581 registered voters in Mason County. Turnout at this time is 27%. Officials estimate 6,300 ballots are remaining to be counted.
