Mason County Public Works implemented emergency gross load weight restrictions for the Stretch Island Bridge on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. This restriction is applicable to vehicles weighing 10,000 pounds and greater. The bridge will also be reduced to one lane for alternating traffic.
Originally built in 1920 and rehabilitated in 1973, Stretch Island Bridge is a timber stringer bridge on East Eckert Road that serves as the only vehicle access point onto Stretch Island.
