Tuesday, Sharon Trask officially resigned as Mason County Commissioner District 3. Her six-page letter of resignation is posted below.

Addressed to the Mason County Board of County Commissioners and the Residents of Mason County, her resignation is effective September 15, 2026.

In the letter, Trask writes, “After considerable thought and with great sadness, I have made the difficult decision to resign….” and says she is resigning “first and foremost because of my health.”

Mrs. Trask provides some details about her recent health issues and how stress brought on by litigation and political pressure has hampered her recovery.

She also states, more than once, that she intended to finish her term in office, and “This is not the ending I wanted.” Trask also states “…it breaks my heart that my service to Mason County is ending this way.”

She thanks her supporters and ends the letter with “Serving Mason County has been one of the greatest honors of my life. But today, I have to take care of myself. I choose my health, my family and I choose peace.”
