No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash near Agate Road involving a Washington State Patrol unit. However, the causing driver faces DUI charges.
According to a press memo, Troopers are still investigating the collision that occurred about 4:30 PM Thursday. Both vehicles were southbound on State Route 3 with the WSP SUV in front of a small SUV. Just south of Agate Road, the Trooper attempted a U-turn and was struck by the smaller SUV. The crash partially blocked both directions of Highway 3 at milepost 9.
The memo indicates drugs or alcohol were involved and the 35-year-old Gig Harbor man driving the small SUV faces charges.
Again, neither driver, the Gig Harbor man or the 26-year-old Trooper, were injured.
Both vehicles were totaled and again, the cause is under investigation.
