The Timberland Regional Library (TRL) Board of Trustees recognized the contributions of Friends of the Library organizations from across the five-county library district at its regular business meeting on September 23 at the Hoodsport Timberland Library.
The Board signed the National Friends of the Library Proclamation, proclaiming October 18–24, 2026, as Friends of Libraries Week in Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific and Thurston counties.
The Board also approved a revised policy at the meeting that emphasizes support for contributions to local libraries and TRL’s support for the volunteers who contribute their time, effort, and commitment across the five-county district.
National Friends of the Library Proclamation
Whereas, Friends of the Timberland Libraries raise funds through book sales and other activities to enhance Library programs, services, spaces, and patron experiences; and
Whereas, the Friends advocate for and raise awareness of Library programs, services, needs and goals within our communities; and
Whereas, the Friends understand the critical importance of well-funded libraries and work through advocacy and fundraising to ensure that libraries have the resources they need to provide a wide variety of services to all ages including access to print and electronic resources, along with expert assistance in research, readers’ advisory, and children’s services; and
Whereas, the Friends’ generous gift of their time, talent, and commitment to the library sets an example for all in how volunteerism fosters civic engagement and strengthens our communities;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that Timberland Regional Library Board of Trustees proclaims October 18-24, 2026, as Friends of Libraries week in Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston Counties, and urges everyone to thank and support the Friends of the Library for all they do to strengthen libraries and communities.
