Mason Health is pleased to announce new leadership within its Acute Care Services team, welcoming Mark Angelo Bartolome, BSN, RN, CCRN, PCCN, MEDSURG-BC, as Nurse Manager of Acute Care Services and Jessica Maxwell, BSN, RN, as Acute Care Services Nurse Supervisor. Together, they lead the Medical-Surgical-Pediatrics (MSP) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) teams, bringing a shared commitment to nursing excellence, staff development and exceptional patient care to Mason Health.
As Nurse Manager of Acute Care Services, Bartolome oversees the ICU and MSP inpatient departments. He brings extensive experience in acute care, critical care, cardiology, stroke services, emergency nursing, clinical education, home health and hospital operations to the District. A native of Toronto, Canada, Bartolome began his healthcare journey inspired by personal experiences that shaped his passion for service and compassion.
“When I was 16, my grandfather passed away from a heart attack, and our family couldn’t afford to travel to his funeral,” Bartolome said. “That experience stayed with me and became part of my motivation to dedicate my life to caring for others and making a difference during some of the most difficult moments people face.”
Before joining Mason Health, Bartolome served as Nurse Manager of a 40-bed medical-surgical unit at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, where he led approximately 100 full-time employees. During his tenure, he launched the seven-month #BetterTogether initiative, a multidisciplinary improvement campaign that focused on quality, patient safety, staff engagement, patient experience and operational performance. The effort contributed to significant gains in falls prevention, infection prevention, hand hygiene compliance and patient satisfaction.
Bartolome joined Mason Health in 2026 after a career that included leadership roles as a clinical educator, operations manager, charge nurse, team leader and preceptor. His clinical experience spans critical care, emergency services, oncology, nephrology, rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery, palliative care and long-term care. His leadership philosophy centers on relationship-based care, psychological safety and empowering nurses to achieve their full potential

Bartolome earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University and completed a postgraduate Critical Care Nursing Certificate at Durham College with President’s Honour Roll distinction. He holds national certifications in critical care, progressive care and medical-surgical nursing and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Health Administration at Eastern Washington University.
Outside of the hospital, he serves as an ambassador and executive board member of the Philippine Nurses Association of America Emerald City Chapter, where he advocates for nursing leadership, mentorship, diversity and professional development.
Working alongside Bartolome, Maxwell serves as Acute Care Services Nurse Supervisor, providing day-to-day leadership and support for MSP and ICU staff.
Jessica Maxwell brings 19 years of healthcare experience across emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, nurse triage, medically fragile pediatric services and nursing leadership. She joined Mason Health in 2024 as a staff registered nurse and charge nurse on the MSP unit before stepping into her current leadership role in June 2026. Her journey into nursing was shaped by a personal health challenge that transformed her career aspirations.
“As a child, I thought I wanted to become a healthcare provider, but after being diagnosed with a heart defect at age 20 and going through cardiac surgery myself, I realized I wanted to be a nurse,” Maxwell said. “The care I received during that experience changed my life and inspired me to provide that same support and compassion to others.”
Maxwell began her healthcare career in patient registration before earning her nursing degree. Her first nursing role was in emergency services, where she spent more than four years before moving into urgent care and primary care leadership positions. She later served as a nurse leader with Providence for six years before joining Mason Health. Known for her collaborative leadership style, Maxwell is passionate about staff development, education and retention.
“Nursing excellence starts with giving people the education, support and confidence they need to practice at the top of their license,” she said. “Patient care is always our priority, but I also want to be a strong advocate for our nurses. My goal is to create an environment where staff feel valued, supported and excited to stay and build their careers here.”
Maxwell’s leadership approach emphasizes transparency, teamwork, process improvement and clinical quality. She is committed to developing workflows that enhance patient safety while supporting the professional growth of team members throughout Acute Care Services.
Together, Bartolome and Maxwell are focused on strengthening collaboration, investing in staff education and fostering a culture where patients and caregivers thrive.
