[VIDEO] A reminder for those that use Shelton Springs and Island Lake roads: Mason County Public Works crews will be installing a roundabout at the intersection. Work is scheduled between 9 AM and 3 PM Wednesday and Thursday. The road will remain open during construction, but drivers may be delayed.
Mason County’s Engineer, Mike Collins, explained to the Mason County Commission Monday that this roundabout is a pilot project using pavement and traffic humps – a less expensive construction method. Collins also said if the concept works, the County will be able to construct multiple roundabouts with this method for the cost of a concrete roundabout.
