A Shelton teacher has been honored with a national award. Gerald Apple, a driver education teacher at Shelton High School, recently received the National Road Safety Foundation’s 2012 Teacher Excellence Award. Apple is among four teachers chosen by their peers to receive this honor. Apple has taught driver education for 40 years. He also trains teachers through Educational Service District 113 in Tumwater, and is the advisor for the Shelton SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club.
