Playoff Loss for SHS Baseball; Losses for SHS & NM Softball; Postseason for NM & MMK Baseball; SHS Track & Field Results

The Shelton baseball team‘s season came to an end Friday in the “Pigtail” Playoff into the Class 3A District 3/4 Tournament as the Highclimbers fell to Mountain View 1 to 0.

Shelton was held to one hit (double by Jax Ward in the top of the fourth inning) by Thunder pitcher Nick Wilcox who went the distance, striking out six.
Highclimbers pitcher Daniel Crossan allowed the one earned run on six hits while striking out four in six innings.
Mountain View’s leading hitter was Brenden Lawson who was 3 for 3 at the plate with a double. Lucas Haskew batted in the Thunder’s run in the first inning.
Shelton finishes the season with an 8-and-13 record.


The Shelton fastpitch softball team wrapped up the season Friday with a 17 to 2 loss to Tumwater. The Highclimbers got RBIs from Riley Rowland and Aurora Marcy. Kaylee Rix was 2 for 3 at the plate. And Hailey Schuffenhauer, Mikayla Lee, and Parris Mentzer each had hits for the ‘Climbers. Shelton finishes the season with a 3-and-15 record.


The North Mason fastpitch softball team was shutout at Port Angeles Friday 10 to 0. Taylor Madison led the Bulldogs at the plate in the loss, going 2 for 3 with a double. Charlie Brown was also 2 for 3 at the plate. Kennady Carson and Addyson Roy added hits for NM. North Mason has a 12-and-6 overall record, 7-and-5 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs are currently fourth in the standings with two games left: at Olympic Monday and home Tuesday against North Kitsap. The District Tournament is next Friday and Saturday with the top five teams from the League making the tourney.


The North Mason baseball team has made the Class 2A District 3 Tournament. The Bulldogs play at Fife Monday night at 7 PM in a loser-out game.


The Mary M. Knight baseball team is playing a tiebreaker for a seed into the Class 1B District 4 Tournament. The Owls are taking on Wishkah Valley at Elma High School at 4 PM Monday.


The Shelton track and field teams competed in the 59th Shaner Invitational at Tumwater District Stadium Friday. The Lady Highclimbers were 8th in the team scoring while the boys were 13th.
Top finishers from Shelton:
Claire Warnock finished 2nd in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles and 4th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Quin Neal placed 2nd in the girls’ high jump.
Madison Lohmeyer placed 5th in the girls’ 3200 meters and was 6th in the 1600 meters.
Bennet Henry took 6th in the boys’ discus.
The girls’ relay team of Claire Warnock, Quinn Neal, Riley Aldrich & Jadyn Smith finished 6th in the 4 x 100.
The boys’ relay team of Kaleb Jordan, Cholon “Sharkey” French, Oscar Castellanos & Yoel Castellanos placed 6th in the 4 x 100.
Hailee Nadeau took 7th in the girls’ 800 meters.
Addison Aldrich was 8th in the girls’ 400 meters.
The Highclimbers head to the Greater St. Helen’s League District Championships at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver next Wednesday and Thursday.
