Mason County Public Health reported two deaths and 79 new cases of COVID-19 in the County on Monday, October 11, 2021. This report covers three days: October 9th to October 11th). The deaths confirmed Monday (a woman in her 60’s and a man over 80) increased the number of Mason County residents to die from coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic to 58. The report also says six Mason County resident are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 (one out of county). With 467 cases in the last 14 days, Mason County’s rate of new COVID-19 per 100,000 of population over two weeks is now 719, up from Friday’s rate of 674. According to health officials, the County’s vaccination rate increase three-tenths of a percentage point to 51.3 percent. Mason County has a population of 64,980.
