New Malware Hitting Internet Users

A new type of malware, that is involved in cyberattacks, is rapidly being spread worldwide that experts know little about. Affected users report slow or no Internet and the error message “No Valid IP Address Configuration” on their devices. The malware has been identified in all types of Internet ready and Internet connected devices like smart phones, routers, computers, refrigerators, alarms systems, lamps, and so on. Basically anything that can connect to a network or the Internet.

Hood Canal Communications technical support is currently receiving a large number of calls related to this malware.  At this time little is known about the new malware and as a result there are no recommendations on how to avoid or fix it.
