Hood Canal Communications (HCC) is investing in the future of local connectivity. Starting January 5, 2026, we’ll begin major upgrades to our Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) network—the technology that powers broadband for many HCC internet customers (cable modem).

Why We’re Upgrading
Your online life is increasingly two-way video calls, cloud back ups, smart home devices, Telehealth, WFH, and remote learning which all rely on fast upload speeds. these upgrades are designed to significantly improve upload performance and prepare our network for next-generation services. In 2026, we’ll also launch simplified plans with better upload speeds and more competitive pricing.

When and Where
Start: January 5, 2026
Completion: March 20, 2026
Where: Work will occur across HCC cable modem service areas on a rolling basis

What You May Experience
While our contractor and team work as quickly and safely as possible, the upgrades will cause brief service interruptions multiple times during the day (Monday-Saturday) and in some areas across more than one day. Most interruptions will be short, but timing can vary based on system configuration and steps required.

Keeping You Informed
Email notices will be sent to most affected customers before the end of December 2025. If we do not have an email address on file then a letter will be sent.
SMS Alerts will be sent the day before work will be done in a specific area but only to those accounts that have a mobile number on their account.
Website will be updated via this post for areas where work is being performed.
Social Media posts will be shared as work areas progress.

How to Prepare
If your household depend on connectivity for work, school, or medical needs plan on being intermittently offline for the days the upgrades are being performed in your area and use alternatives like mobile hotspots. Our goal is for brief interruptions that most customers will not even notice.
Business customers may want to schedule lengthy but critical transactions outside normal business hours (including Saturdays).
Update Your Contact Information. Make sure we can reach you with SMS alerts, email notifications and more by updating your account contact information and preferences.
