The Shelton football team picked up its first win of the season, knocking off Kingston 22 to 6.

The Highclimbers struck first taking advantage of a short field, going 22 yards in four plays, capped by Gavin Gould’s one-yard TD dive. That 6-0 score held to the half.

Shelton opened the third quarter with an eight play, 49-yard drive with Josiah Olels reaching the end zone for the first of his two touchdowns in the game and the lead to 13-0.

Kingston responded and the scored seemed stuck at 13 to 6 until about three minutes remaining in the game when the ‘Climbers drove to the one yard line but lost a fumble. That is when the Shelton defense stiffened and forced a safety.

With the score 15 to 6, the Highclimbers took advantage of another short field going 18 yards in two plays with Olels scoring on a 14-yard run.

Josiah Olels had 22  carries for 132 yards and two TDs.

Shelton hits the road next week and plays at Bremerton.

North Mason Took Care of Chimacum

The North Mason Football team opened the season Saturday with a 52 to 6 win over Chimacum. The Bulldogs host Klahowya next Friday.
