Here are some locations where people without a way to cool off during the coming heat wave can do so as temperatures reach 100 plus Saturday, Sunday and Monday:

  • Shelton Civic Center on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM, and Monday regular business hours.
  • Mason County Public Works Building #1 on Monday and Tuesday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM (Mask and social distance required).
  • Mason County Fire District #4 Arcadia Station on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM.
  • The Shelton Timberland Library is open Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM closed Sunday, open Monday 10 AM to 7 PM.
  • The Hoodsport Timberland Library is open Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM, closed Sunday and Monday.
  • North Mason Timberland Library in Belfair is open Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM, closed Sunday and Monday.
  • On Sunday, the Dinner Church at the HUB in Belfair will be opening up early at 3:30 pm for free ice water and popsicles, followed by dinner and service in the AC.
  • Join the HUB in Belfair on Monday for free ice cream sundaes at noon, followed by a movie at 2 pm, with free popcorn courtesy of Belfair Pop. Cool off in our air conditioning and enjoy the entertainment.
  • The Casinos/Resorts (Lucky Dog and Little Creek) will be open for business on their regular hours.
  • Several other large box stores, theaters, and shopping malls will also be available.
